In 1940 our town had 40 retailers and seven wholesale-dealers.
The most numerous were grocers and textile traders. All green
grocers had their own customers and they gave their best to
keep them with good service, high-quality goods and assortment.
Some of them sold commodities on monthly credit to their faithful
customers, state clerks.
That kind of customers had special booklets given by shop
owners where all purchased goods with their prices were written
down.
The first petrol station which supplied a few car owners was
founded by Tanasije Miskovic in 1938
The owner of the fir timber shop was Miloje Radosevic.
There was only one shop selling manufactured footwear "Bata".
The manager was Sele Tomic.
The oldest textile shop was the shop of Dobrivoje Trifunovic
and son, founded in 1902. The other famous firm from this
group was one owned by Dragoljub Tadic.
Milanovac had a few wholesale shops of brandy, prune plum,
timber, cereals, dairy. Nowadays official building of Agro-Industrial
Conglomerate Takovo near green market was storehouses of Vladimir
