When in 1859 Milos Obrenovic became the
duke for the second time he changed the name of the town Despotovica
to Gornji Milanovac to be a memory on his deceased brother
Milan Obrenovic.
In his explanation for passing this rule he said:
"Popeciteljstvu vnutreni dela

No. 306 resio:

This decree was supported both by Vujo Vasic, the village
mayor of Despotovica, and the inhabitants.
In return for obeying to wish, the Duke Milos Obrenovic started
building of the church in Milanovac which after his death
was finished by the Duke Mihailo Obrenovic in 1852.
