The idea to build
a public bath-house appeared in the 30`s of the 20 century
when boarding school was opened in the town. It was caused
by the visit of governor for Danube Banovina to the town and
to boarding school in May in 1933. Seeing the tiny room where
the scholars bathed, governor promised to build a public bath-house
in this town, which would serve for needs of boarding school
and all scholars.
Delegates from Public Health
Institute from Novi Sad visited the town and decided that
public bath-house was going to be in the high-school court-yard.
Thy decided to adapt an outbuilding which had not been used.
According to the Institute school was the owner of this bath-house
and it was governed by the school board until school health
center was founded. Townsmen could use the public bath-house
at a charge of two dinars for shower and eight dinars for
bathtub. This profit was used for purchasing fuel and for
repairs. Town municipality was expected to give fuel, too,
because all pupils bathed free of charge. Later it became
the ownership of the town.
