GRAND-DUKE MILOS OBRENOVIC
He was born in Dobrinja Village (county of Uzicka Pozega)
in the house of a poor peasant Teodor Mihailovic. He took
his surname from his stepbrother Milan Obrenovic, who was
Duke in the First Serbian Rising, and in whose house Milos
lived in Brusnica.
He took part in almost all the greatest battles in the First
Serbian Rising. He distinguished himself during the subjugation
of Uzice in 1807, when he was badly wounded. In Takovo in
1815 he was chosen to be a commander in chief of the second
Serbian Rising and he took part in the crucial combats against
the Turks: on Ljubic, Palez, in Pozarevac, Karanovac, Dubalj......
Using his diplomatic skills and using favorable international
political situation Milos succeeded in getting the internal
autonomy of Serbia by special "Hatiserif" (The highest
Turkish State Decree) and in getting the hereditary title
of Grand-Duke for his successors in 1830.
He retired from his position of Grand Duke after so-called
"Turkish Constitution" in 1839. When the Diet in
Saint Andrea toppled Grand-Duke Aleksandar Karadjordjevic,
the position of Grand-Duke of Serbia was given back to Milos
again in 1858.
DUKE MILAN OBRENOVIC
He was born in Brusnica. His parents' names were Obren and
Visnja. His surname was Obrenovic after his father (Obren).
By the First Serbian Rising he was a cattle-dealer. In 1804
as one of the first Karadjordje's associates he took part
in conquering Rudnik together with 80 other men from Rudnik.
He excelled himself in a couple of battles of the First Serbian
Rising.
As the first Duke of Rudnik District, in 1809 he went to Russian
Army in Rumania as a deputy. He got ill in Bucharest and after
short illness he died on December 16th 1810.
DUKE AKSENTIJE LOMA
Aksentije Loma was born in Dragolje where
his father Joksim Knezevic, settled just before Loma's birth.
He was among the first, together with Milan Obrenovic who
hurried to help Karadjordje attack Rudnik in 1804. At first
he was Captain (buljubasa) and since 1811 he had been Duke
of Kacer.
From all Serbian Dukes he was the one who pleaded the most
for starting the Rising against Turks in 1815. He had the
leading role on the first meeting in Rudovci and Vreoci. During
the Second Rising he surrounded and conquered Rudnik. He was
killed perfidiously in the same year.
This great hero of many combats was described by his contemporaries
like this: He was tall, very strong and robust; his hair was
brown, his moustaches long and thin; On the top of his head
he had a long cue and he always wore a green Dolman; he weighted
about 110 "okas" (one "oka" is about three
pounds).
MILENTIJE PAVLOVIC
Milentije Pavlovic was born in Vrbava
(Upper Gruza) in 1776. He learned how to read and write in
the Monastery of Vracevsnica, where he was the monk at first,
and then since 1810 he had been the prior of the monastery.
He took part in the preparations of the Second Serbian Rising
and he distinguished himself in the battles on Ljubic and
Palez in 1815.
He ran Belgrade Metropolis from the summer of 1815 to March
of 1816 when a Greek Anatangel became Metropolitan. In August
of 1831,Patriarch of Constantinopole Konstantije, at the request
of Milos Obrenovic himself, established him as Archbishop
and Metropolitan of Belgrade. He died in Belgrade on June
11th 1833.
DUKE MILIC DRINCIC
Drincic is a great hero of the Fist and
the Second Serbian Risings. He was born in Teocin village.
At first he was buljubasa (a captain) at Duke Milan Obrenovic.
Together they conducted the first fights against the Turks
on Rudnik. Later, he became a Duke himself in the District
which is now the territory of Gornji Milanovac Municipality.
He excelled himself in the battles in Cacak and Ljubic and
in a battle on the Drina river. He fell gloriously in the
battle on Dubalj on July 14th 1815.
DUKE LAZAR MUTAP - DUKE OF MORAVA

DUKE NIKOLA MILICEVIC LUNJEVICA
Nikola Milicevic was born in Lunjevica
in 1767. He was nicknamed Lunjevica after his birthplace.
At the time the First Serbian Rising started he was known
all over Serbia as a cattle-dealer. With his men of Takovo
and Rudnik he conducted military operations at Karadjordje's
time. As a very wealthy man he supported the insurrectionists
giving them money for purchasing arms and ammunition as well
as the other war stuffs in Austria. During 1839 he got the
rank of Major and he was the Chairman of Regional Court in
Rudnik. He died in 1842 and he was buried on the left side
of the church of Vujan monastery.
